Naming this Fiction Series
Imogene Sol Fans: I need your help!
I’m in the cover phase of publishing with my amazing cover artists Violet Cover Designs for The Cipher of Tolo. An exciting phase when the book is getting the treatment. For me, it means we’re in the home stretch! And I better get focused on that rewrite!
I discovered this week that I have an issue to address: A series title.
The cover artist has been using the placeholder “A Ring Academy Novel.” And while it works, I feel that misrepresents the overall tone and focus of the series. For one reason—and I hope this doesn’t spoil things too much—Imogene is going to be leaving The Ring Academy. You see the conundrum right?
So I need your vote for which series title you like best. But first, here are some examples of series titles:
In the Shadow of a Wish by Maci Aurora is the first book in the spicy romantasy 5 book series Fareveiw Fairytales.
Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros is the first book in the spicy romantasy action-packed Empyrean Series.
Red Rising by Pierce Brown is the first book in the dystopian, space opera, action-adventure the Red Rising Saga.
The Will of the Many by James Islington is the first book in the epic dystopian, political-intrigue Hierarchy Series.
You get the gist right?
So . . . though it is going to get a new cover (Eek! I’m so excited!) The Ring Academy: The Trials of Imogene Sol by CL Walters is the first book in this untitled series.
The second one is called The Cipher of Tolo. And here’s the burb:
Surviving the Trials was only the beginning.
Imogene Sol chose to remain at Ring Academy while her friends scattered across the Federation. It’s a decision that has left her isolated and unable to outrun her past. But running isn’t what she wants. She stayed for the truth about her parents. As she searches, she’s built a fragile connection with Sirkuhl Adim Glyn and is carving out her space at Ring as a halo with the goal of joining Legion. The more she digs, however, the more she discovers that in the shadow of her parents’ crimes the details don’t add up.
Meanwhile, Timaeus Kade — Imogeneʻs former love, separated by duty and filial legacy— resists Imogene’s gravity. Understanding their relationship is impossible, he focuses on his own work with the highest office in the Federation. Secretly, he works to help Imogene unravel the web of information around her parents. The more information he uncovers, the more he realizes he may not be able to save her—or himself— from the truth she’s chasing.
When a coded message arrives from an enemy Imogene thought she’d escaped, and an unexpected death occurs shortly after —shattering her insulated world—Imogene realizes her digging might have awoken a more dangerous enemy. Hunted by a faceless adversary, Imogene disappears into the Bellenium Galaxy, relying on the few people she trusts. Decoding the message becomes crucial and the key to something far bigger.
The Cipher of Tolo has a secret that could rewrite the Federation and this time, survival won’t be enough.
Book two in a four-book, new adult space opera series features galactic intrigue, found family, forbidden longing, and a heroine discovering that the truth always comes at a cost.
And for the future of the series, I have the working titles for book 3 and 4 as well (though I will save those for later; I have to keep some secrets to keep you interested right?). And so far, none of them rely on The Ring Academy. So, there it is. I need a series name.
Below is my brainstorm. I’d love your VOTE.
